Replacement Shocks
« on: January 16, 2004, 15:40:40 »
The time has come after 116,000 miles to replace the shocks and springs on my 90. I don't want to spend a fortune and was wondering what merit there is with products like De-Carbon when the existing bog standard kit has lasted all the times at a third of the price I imagine.

Any thoughts on replacement kit, any recommendations on a fairly good cheap solution.

Car used for 20 miles a day to the station and back and off roading whenever possible.

Damian,

When I replaced my shocks and springs I went for a set of Pro-Comp EP9000 shocks +2" and pro- comp springs again +2" to match, total cost was about £350. These were install about 18mnths; Apart from the front shocks being installed upside down (another story  I must say in my defence I didn't put them on.) I have had no problems, also guaranteed for life!

I got HD springs, and bilsteins - sits just right for me (about 1" - 1.5" higher) and handles 10 times better.

Had the standard shocks before - keep leaking and snapping !
