lift kits
« on: December 12, 2013, 10:11:15 »
I am just trying to find out some information from you guys on which kits and where to get them from.
I have got a 300tdi disco 3 door and I want to run her on 750x16s, what would I need to give her a lift but not to turn her into a wobbly wagon on the roads.

Thanks.

Is that the equivalent to 235 85 16? If so you will need a 2 inch lift and a bit of a trim on the wheel arches. I started off with procomp shocks but they weren't that good. I now use Terrafirma and it is great, good road manners with very little body roll and capable off road too. Just remember that any lift will effect the handling. Hope this helps

Neil.

It depends on the tyres.  I had Michelin xpc on mine in 750s on defender 5.5j steel rims and all I did was use some stays from the chassis to the lowest part of the rear arch to gently ease the clearance I needed, no lift, no cutting.

I was looking at the terraferma lift kits but I could decide between the medium of heavy kit, does anyone know where the best site is to get parts for disco. I'm looking at getting a winch bumper, diff guards, steering guard, tank guard and a sat of rock sliders/side steps for the misses to get in before I have to brake out the ladders for her  :azn:

Paddocks is a good company to deal with. Got my terrafirma kit from Ebay but the seller was based in Coventry. I went for the medium setup as i have a roof tent (heavy duty bumpers, winch ect), that i sometimes put on. You would only need the heavy duty if you carry lots of weight, i.e roofrack, jerrycans loads of tools ect.

Terrafirma shocks here on my defender 110. For springs I'd try and get some progressive ones. That way the normal ride won't be to firm.
