« on: February 27, 2013, 17:23:55 »
My 300tdi, has developed an issue with the gearbox, in that i can't change up to 5th, reverse is fine, I can select 5th on the drive and get the car to move just, what could it be? All other gears appear fine thou I was having an ocassional issue with 3rd doing the same on change down but works fine now.
as always any Help ideas appreciated

Under all the trim there are some sprung guides and plates the lever is limited by they may be out of adjustment?

whilst looking at the spring adjustment it is also worth removing that plate. If you then look where the lever goes into the box there is a grub screw that comes loose where it attaches to the shaft. It will just need tightening.

It might also be worth checking the level and condition of the gearbox oil.

It was the Basis Plate out of Alignment , took longer to get the console off and put it back then it did sort the problem. Took it out for a test drive the gear chamges are smooth and I can get into fifth again :azn:
