I assume you mean the pod one which I guess is to combat the odd centre of gravity?

As stated to lower the centre of gravity the person driving the vehicle for the movie was actually seated in the pod on the roof. This was used for the opening sequence where you can see the internals of the Defender.

I meant the one actually shown in the movie itself. The wheels just looked too small in some of the scenes I was wondering if they did it do get better acceleration for shunt driving---- just me I guess.

They are standard wheels they vehicle in question was here in reception (Gaydon Test centre) last week, in it battered state sadly that is probably how it will remain as no doult it will become part of the heritage museums collection and it would just be a boring 110 double cab if it was straightened.
