hi folks got a range rover two door bobtail at moment with v8 four speed overdrive want to get rid ov these and put a diesel in 200tdi or 300tdi but need to no which one a 5speed v8 gearbox fits too so i can keep long stick gearbox and no mods on gearbox tunnel cheers folks

not sure what type of v8 box you want to use mate,but the v8 gearbox layshaft is different size,slightly smaller,so even if you change the clutch,the spiggot bearing/bush for the 200 or 300tdi will be to big,and im sure its wrong length as well.

nether the v8 bellhousing is alot bigger you need a 200/300 belhousing
If it ain't broke hit it with a big hammer then it will be.

And the TDi has/needs a longer 1st gear.  With a V8 box you will struggle to set off in 1st.

You could possible build a hybrid using a TDi gearbox (LT77 form a turbo diesel or 200Disco) and the top end of your V8 long stick LT77, I believe the gearshift housings that bolts to the top are interchangeable.

Someone else might know for sure.
