Mysterious Wires
« on: December 30, 2003, 09:55:02 »
Hi All

On checking my Defender over after the weekend's fun, I've found a wire hanging from underneath the vehicle which looks like it ought to be plugged in somewhere!!!

Limited testing suggests that it's not the reversing light, and so I'm wondering if it's the diff lock warning light, as this doesn't appear to light up any more...

Where do the wires for this plug in (there are 2 in a single sheath)?

Haynes doesn't seem to have any record of a diff lock light (I've only looked in the electrical and transfer box sections...)!!!

Cheers

Ben

Hi Damian

Done quite a bit more investigation on this now, and the diff lock light has started working after wiggling the wires sticking out of hte transfer case.

The fuel gauge, on the other hand, is stuck on zero... I think they are meant to be connected into the bottom of a connector at the bottom of the front bulkhead, but I can't convince them to stay in at the moment. I bit of friendly persuation and some gaffer tape will no doubt do the trick when I get round to sorting it out next weekend...

The wires are black and green...

Thanks

Ben
