The gate for reverse has disappeared on my Rangy and also on my mate's Disco both are manuel boxes.
Is this a common fault and can it be easily sorted or is it a big job.???

That will be the little plate under the gear lever assembly split in two, needs the top off the gearbox remove the plate weld it back together and refit.

Is it an LT77? - Reverse far left and forward?
If so its not that hard; you have to take the top cover off and there is a bracket with a  sprung plunger; change that.

Look At the back of the car as well; it also has the reversing light switch; when mine did it the reversing lights were permanently on
