oil problem??
« on: January 06, 2009, 14:39:49 »
Have Grand Cherokee 4.0 car has done 154k, lift oil filler cap and nice oil colour underneath, pull out the dipstick and sometimes getting white gunge at the top of the dipstick with nice oil on the marker, is this a possible sign of head problems? slight oil leak now appeared under car but cant find where it is from. The car has been great, but now have concerns over the head gasket going, any help would be gratefully received.

oh and check around the oil filter for a leak, the filter take off tend to leak as well as the rear crank seal (talking I-6 engine here), both fairly easy to swap out the seals

I'd third condensation.

If your really concerned enough to spend money, get a chemical test done and it'll tell you if the head gasket is on it's way out.
