What came first?
« on: December 30, 2008, 18:42:34 »
Hi all, Shortly going to be starting work on my project disco which needs a new chunk of wiring after  a fire, i have ordered up a loom and fuse box trim ect, but What caused the fire  :-k  It seems mainly round the immediate under steering coloumn area that is worst damaged, What i dont want to do is replace it all just to watch it go up in smoke again :(      Its a jap import 300 tdi, 1997, A/c, cruise, auto
Must admit i have never seen such a dry shiney boot floor before  :)

SO --- any ideas ?? do fuse boxes "just catch fire"  There seems no evidense of dodgey wiring/repairs that i have seen,

   Any pointers appreciated :?

if fitted with incorrect amp fuses it will get hot and can catch fireif not sure fit a battery cut off switch on the dash so cut power off quickly and save the truck going up in flames again

300 TDi, lots of stuff runs through the MFU including wipers and headlights.  If it got a bit of condensation dripped on it.......
