hi
just like to say been working with snap on tools for last 10years and they are not as good as they make out ratchet rings that slip and when we would try to get replacement they ALWAYS quibble the1/4 3/8 ratchets arent as smooth as other top makes.
I ts the  American hype thing.
But its what the firm give us and no we cant pinch them.

I still think what you have bought is good value its not worth paying the extra for snap on

Congrats with the baby mate, nice to see stuff is still getting done on you truck, ended up shifting on my pick up disco to allow a more sensible 90 to inhabit the drive so that the family can go places too.

keep posting pics mate it is always good to see what you are up to.

Looking good Boss. Don't build it too tall or you'll have to take the angle grinder to the garage to get it out

that issue has already been adressed. if you look at the pics, the cant rails for the cage are sunken into the roof to keep the overall height as low as possible. the overall height on the 37s(with zero psi and 20" wheels still measuring 35") the 5" drop of the portal box, im roughly standard spring height and the low low cage im 10mm higher than when i had my old set up :D

***edit***

sorry there not in the pics

thought i would throw this in there for comedy value
james struggles to bend the ERW tube. i can bend the CDS 1 handed lol...........4 stone difference might have something to do with it  :blank:

Well im up to speed now, spent the last three evenings reading Daisy 1.0 + 2.0 build threads

I'm really impressed with all the work you've done and more so with your ability to just get on with it. I'm a mechanic by trade and although i know i could do what you've done i just havnt the balls to get on and do it.

Fair play to you Doug, really well done mr!!

Not a terrible ammount I dont think but it's that time of year again where I refuse to work on my bday so I have most of next week on it. My front links are made up, all 100cm from bolt to bolt made from 50x6.35 CDS with creeper joints at both ends so that should be a fairly strong setup;) I have steel arriving Tuesday so tomorrow will be a tidy up day and tuesday WILL be a progress day lol. Tbh I diddnt think people were still interested in it so I havnt been posting on here......

I know the idea has been batted around for a while but I'm thinking of ditching the body, I want it to stay a disco but it's too heavy and there is alot of work involved in making everything I want fit around the disco body..... You'll all know by Tuesday. If anyone needs stuff making let me know, tools are still yet to pay for themselves

That's all for now

Hi Boss,

Glad too see you're still at it and glad to see I still have a place in you're signature
Congrats on the new addition - I've got two myself now and completely sympathize on the time/money/grief from the missus situation.

My own landrover story has almost ground to halt, I still have a disco but its neglected to the point of scrap - its still MOT'd but I only made 20 miles on saturday morning before overheating and having to come home, trial abandoned and season [!Expletive Deleted!]  :embarrassed:

I either need to re-commit or pack it in...

Hope you get your Daisy finished, my Daisy is five and she has already decided she is getting married to one of the boys in her class - you have all this to come pal!

hi stu hows tricks? youll always be in my sig mate lol.

still slogging away at it slowly, but my situation has got a little worse as ive split up with my girlfriend and have nowhere to live. my dad will put me up untill i can save a deposit to rent a flat but i have a 70 mile round trip to do each day after doing my 7:00am-4:00pm stint in london. so its looking like 4am starts and 6:30-7:30pm finishes when you take traffic into account, i dont even want to think about what im going to have to do when the olympics are on.....we have hoists on the olympic park, heathrow, centre of chelsey the list goes on and its going to be a . ill be 4 miles from the truck but ill have about 4 mins spare everey week to work on it.

im waiting for some bungs to be machined so i can use the origional landrover radius arm mounts, doing this was soposed to save time but im not sure. at the end of the month(somehow) im collecting some 44" michelins, same pattern as i have but but bigger and with 90% tread on them.
i opted to run the mog drum breaks for a while as im sick of relying on people to keep promaces they seem to have no intention of keeping, ill run the drums while i work out my own disk conversion.
as soon as i get these bungs ill be welding them into the tube and bolting the front axle on(that simple and that fast yes) then itll be wheeled out side and the body will be lifted off. it will be a sad moment becasue as you know i wanted to keep it a disco but you clearly cant have it all. but i have a trick up my sleave that should help keep the disco looks.....

would say watch this space but i wouldnt bother because not much will happen for atleast 3 months :(

Sorry to hear that Doug, sounds like you've gt it rough at the moment.

Dont lose heart though, life has a habit of sending us ups and downs to deal with. Daisy will still be sitting patiently when you get time to get back to it - after all, for many of us building and fixing them is often better than driving and breaking them

Hope things start looking up for you soon, I'll watch this space regardless.

All the best, Stu.
