Hey Guys,

Firstly thanks for reading through this and if you can help an even bigger thanks....

We are Team Conquer the Void, and we need your help! This summer my team mate Andy and I will be attempting a very dangerous, almost impossible, and some say extremely crazy endeavour, all in an attempt to raise as much money as possible for some very deserving charities.

The Challenge

On July 18th 2008 we will be embarking on what is regarded as one of the hardest drives in the world, the Mongol Rally. We will be driving from Liverpool (the official start line is in London) to Ulaanbaatar, the capital city of Mongolia.
Our 10,000+ mile route will take us one third of the way around the world covering the length of Europe, Turkey, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan and finally on to Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. The treacherous route embraces seven mountain ranges and three deserts, with roads ranging from bad to completely non-existent. To make this journey just that little bit more difficult, all vehicles must have an engine size of less than 1000cc. We have selected and purchased a Suzuki SJ 1989 jeep which has proven to be the one of the most successful vehicles in the rallies past events.

The Charities

Through our fund raising we shall be providing much needed support for a number of charities operating in Mongolia. Our principal charities will be the Christina Noble's Children Foundation (CNCF) and Mercy Corps Mongolia

The Christina Noble's Children Foundation (www.cncf.org/mongolia/aboutmongolia.asp) is an international foundation which is aimed to serve children in need of emergency and long-term medical care, nutritional rehabilitation, educational opportunities, vocational training, job placement and the protection of children at risk of economic and sexual exploitation. We are supporting their numerous projects with the Mongolian children, including The Sunshine Ger Village Project. This provides a shelter for street children and orphans who would otherwise be living in tunnels underneath the streets of Ulaanbaatar, begging and scavenging to survive.

Mercy Corps Mongolia (www.mercycorps.org/countries/mongolia) has one overall strategic goal – to support rural communities to mobilize resources to meet their economic and social needs, and thus, to provide a better quality of life for rural residents. The objectives are:
-To develop, diversify and strengthen rural businesses critical to Mongolia's agriculture sector, helping individuals, families and communities to become more self-sufficient , diversified in their production, and better linked to both value-added processors and local, regional and national markets.

Our Goal

We have a minimum target of £2000 to raise and divide between our charities, but as with any fundraising event, this really is a minimum! We are looking to raise at least double this amount and this is where we look to yourself for support. With your help we can help make a difference in the lives of so many others.

How Can you Help?

Remember this is any old charity fundraiser, we're going to going through some of the worlds most dangerous countries, risking being stranded in desert environments, attacks at gun point and dodgy road side food!

We are looking to raise sponsorship through individual donations so any help will be greatly received. We're also looking for corporate sponsors and if you think that it's something your company or boses would be interested in supporting then please get in touch. There are a number of ways in which we can help companies, including advertising on the side of the SJ as promotions during the media coverage on the rally. We need to raise money to allow the event to take place but also need to get kit on board to ensure we can complete the rally and ensure our sponsorship is delivered where it's needed.

Should you wish to make a donation through to the charities then this can be done by following this link https://www.willwemakeit.com/fundraiser/conquerthevoid. Or should you wish to make a donation towards the kit buying e.t.c then drop me an e-mail and i can give you the info for that too. Finally, if you are interested to find out more about the corporate sponsorship available then feel free to get in touch, my mobile is 07912622135 or e-mail me at petehanbury@hotmail.com.

These really are some amazing charities we're raising funds for so please dig deep and see if you can help out.

Thanks,

Team: Conquer the Void
