V8 exhuarst front section
« on: April 07, 2008, 19:55:48 »
Need a new front y section for my 91 v8 efi disco. Looking around at the exhausrt supiers i cant find one that loks like mine as mine is just one peice from the manifold to the centre box. and all the ones i can find are in three pieces and dont have the same three bolt plate to conect it to the manifold. So has anyone else got the same front section and or know of anywere i can get one. tryed the normal exhausrt suppliers even bassel and still cnt find mine.

Originally the factory fitted 1 piece exhaust AFAIK, these were rpleaced bu 3 piece designs, cheaper to make, distibute and fit given the tight space and the variation in fit.  If the 3 piece does the job then fit it.

When you say 3 bolt plate (flange) do you mean the single pipe 3 bolt downpipe flange like a carb RRC or the twing pipe downpipe which also had 3 bolts, 2 behind and one ahead?

yea mean as in the 3 bolt two behind one ahead as in the one  is inbetween the twin pipes coming down and a right pig to get to with a fixed flange weleded to the top of the pipe.

Basically this type of exhaust cam in with the 3.5 EFi RRC.  The later 3.9 had a bigger bore on the downpipes ans was routed differently around the gearbox crossmember as it had changed.  The one to go for is a 3.9 if you can make it fit.

Now are you after a new on or second hand?

Have you considered a S/S replacement?

I don't have any of my old ones left now unfortuantely.
