Con Rod Bolts

I'm going to be doing some engine work over the weekend that involves removing a piston.  I have seen that the con rod bolts haven't got normal hexagon heads but have multiple points on them.  Am I going to need a special socket for these?  And if so what's it called and where do I get it from?

Look inside your normal socket, they normally have 12 points, the same as the conrod nuts...... if you have 6 sided sockets, they are stronger, just go and but a 12 sided one the right size/.......  no speical tool needed!!
gone from 200tdi.... to 300tdi... still with loads done to it, in fact, even more than the last truck...LOL!!!

They are bi-hexagonal but like Ron said, so are most sockets.  the idea is that they transmit the froce through 12 corners, not 6 and are less likely to round off.  You might find your callipers have them aswell.

And the swivel housing to axle tube bolts  :D

yep standard 12 point socket..
