Petrol Patrols - how bad are they?
« on: February 26, 2008, 21:29:24 »
Hi guys,

I've just sold my discovery and am looking at possibly getting another Patrol (I had a 1983 LWB 3.2 diesel a few years ago and loved it) but the one I'm looking at is the 3.0 petrol in a SWB of around 1993ish.

What sort of MPG would be a fair estimate and are they fairly easy to put onto lpg?

The one I've seen seems pretty smart and has been lifted 2" and is on 33" tyres.

I was kinda hoping to find a later  SWB 4.2 diesel but they don't seem to be many about at the mo.
R reg 3.9 Discovery on LPG - pretty standard at mo.

I went laning on the beginners day, one day before Christmas with the Nissan4x4 owners club.  We met in a carpark for a briefing.  One chap asked how far we were driving during the day.  He was worried that he might not have enough petrol, because he only had three quarters of a tankful.   He went on to explain that he only got 11mpg.

I'd suggest that you keep looking for a diesel.

Cheers
