L200 single cab, Mk 3, off roading

I am tarting up a 2.5TD 1997 MK 3 L200 single bed pickup for off roading. I have owned it for work for a while but it is surplus to requirements in our business so prefer to put it to use instead of selling it  for peanuts in our difficult local market. The question is: as an almost empty single cab pickup is too light at the rear even on main roads- how much weight ( ballast ) should be added over the rear axle area to give optimum traction through the rear wheels?  The vehicle is going to attempt peat roads, grass slopes and generally boggy ground typical of the Shetland Islands. I know single cabs ain't glamorous but if you have it flaunt it! 

Anyone got any ideas and practical experience?

The short answer is lots!
That said I off road my double cab with approx 200kg of weight in the back. made up of off road 'must haves'  :lol: & various off bits n bobs.
I'd actually put the weight as far back as possible to get the most effect. A couple of big bags of sand??
Slap on Mud terrains, even on the standard tyre size they go well off road!  :afro:
