High mileage Freelanders?
« on: January 06, 2008, 22:29:48 »
Hi,

I'm looking to sell my TD5 52 reg Disco and get a Freelander as the fuel costs are killing me.  :'(
The price I will get for my TD5 is killing me as well, but thats another story...

I have found a nice looking 54 reg with 86000 on the clock for £7600.
Has FSH and 1 private owner from new, so suspect it's motorway company driving...

Does this sound about the right price?
Anything to watch for in the high milage models - I must admit being this high in such a short time is a bit off putting...

I use the Disco mainly for towing the caravan, hardly ever offroading, I assume it's a capable enough towcar, but how different will it be to the Disco towing a 1300kg Swift?

Cheers

d.

Hi
bought mine with 70k on it, now got 104k in 18 months, I get around 37MPG and run BFG All Terrains 215/75/15s.  Engine has Pierburg Mass Airflow Meter and a MAFAM75P interface box to sort out the down right dangerous flat spot that occures between 1000 and 2000 revs together with a K&N filter.

As you will see from other posts, check out the VCU as if this has gone it will distroy the IRD (big cash)

As for the price, if it's a TD4 that is good money providing the above is not on it's way out.

Regards

Tony
