V8 - Oil burner ??
« on: September 12, 2007, 15:56:40 »
Hi all, I have a much loved V8 disco, and am finding it restrictive these days to run her as much as i should  :(

It has quite a lot of mods and apart from lots of green lane scratches is in quite good condition still Ie never been welded and so on, Any how as she is not really worth enough to sell was contemplating oiking out the v8 and sliding in a diesel lump ??
Im guessing a 200/300 tdi would be  an easier swap, but what about a jap 6 cyl t/d ??   Any views or experiences on this ??  Im reasonably ok with spanners and can weld of a sort,
TD5 with a few Tweaks ;o)
a bit more fuel friendly than the V8

Nissan Patrol 2.8td, a stonker in my opinion got one in my Rangie, sounds really good when on full noise, does 30 mpg. One went on eblag the other day still in the car for £25.00 I am told !!!! Needa good gearbox behind it though as loads of torque.

Why not buy a second hand LPG kit for it? It'd probably work out cheaper in the long run.

Guardian.

i agree lpg it, keep that sound, and costs no more to run than a derv, plus if engine has problems, bits are cheaper.
gas conversions are as cheap as chips now, and second hand always coming up on ebay.
