change radio to cd player
« on: September 11, 2007, 00:44:21 »
I've got a 52 plate discovery and I want to take out the tape player/radio and put in a cd player, has anyone done this and put in the landrover cd player is there any problems doing a staight change as I want to keep the stalk controls on the steering wheel? has anyone got a part number of the cd I need or could I buy one from say halfords and all will work ok?
I just want a cd player so doesn't need to bling my ride.
cheers Rob

Rob,

Duckworth Parts (www.duckworthparts.co.uk) were advertising original LR 6 slot changers suitable for Disco & Def Td5's for £50 (yes, fifty quid !) - the ad says for vehicles fitted with the Philips C42 head unit.

Might be worth a try - their phone no is 08444 707383, they are up in Lincolnshire, but do mail order.

If you do change your head unit, look at Blaupunkt ones first. They fit the standard disco connectors to the stereo with no modification. At least they did on my 300Tdi.

The biggest downside is you cant use the steering shroud auxiliary controls.
