Keep up the good work.

This is just as exciting as Big Brother (did I just say that outloud...??? Maybe nobody noticed)

Mark.

Sanding walls is more exciting than Big brother.

I have an idea what this is gonna look like when you are done and if i'm right should be pretty cool. Hope I'm right :)

Sanding with charlie and Chanelle together, in the same room, would make it exciting

Good on ya Boss. Looks like you're doing a cracking job.

The truck back is the chop I'll go for one day in the future when I can afford another car/the rot gets so bad it doesn't matter!

Watching avidly and cant w8 to see the final result.

I have had some thughts about re using the 2nd sunroof in mine as a rear cab window and a few other little quirks.

Pie in the sky at the moment TBH, mines parked out front, gleaming and looking good. No way its gettin chopped just yet :)

Stu.

PS. From the look of the spatter around your welds and the glimpse of the welder I'm betting its the Clarke 150 EN Gas/Gasless mig or somthing really similar? I have one too 8)

it is.....i borrowed it off of a friend, i hate it, the wire feed isnt smooth i cant figure out the ampage from the switches(i just memorise patterns) im used to working with big 500amp migsets with dials. the welds would be alot better if i had a tig set as thats what i mainly do.

does anyone know if gasless welds are ok in an mot?? i was told aslong as its mig/tig/oxcet its ok, but a gasless mig is just like an ark welder with a reley long electrode so i dont know. or is it going to be a case of  "they cant fail what they cant see!"

You can get the bits needed to use the welder as a standard gas mig from machine mart for 25 quid. Just need a friendly landlord for a bottle of pub gas then :)

got the back on,and the bottom half of the cab is all marked out.

my trusty work bench!

got the edges cut

started to hammer the back over but i ran out of gas for the blow torch, i carried on for a little while but the corners wernt forming wright(i did put slits in) and its bloody hard work working cold steel when you havnt got something solid for it to lean on!!

its taken bloody ages, ive been working by myself and playing it by ear. And things keep hindering the build like cutting disks wearing out or some more problems appearing. to be honest all ive got to do to get it going is put the other half of the back on, the rear lights and the fuel tank and its drivable but I wont be happy with it so im taking it slow. I was on holiday for the past few weeks so you guys should have more pics next week. Keep watching out.

In the meantime I leave you with my old chap’s disco2

allisport intercooler/remap
Silicone hoses
Hi-clones
Td5 alive performance exhaust
arb winch bumper
Disco parts rock slider/ tree guards
Disco parts +2" air spacer
Scorpion racing +2" front springs
Old man emu shocks
QT front and rear diff guards
QT heavy duty track rod
Southdown tank guard
LANDROVER CENTRE DIFF LOCK
bfg 265/75/16
safari snorkel
k&n air filter

Soon to go on:
D44 rear bumper
The last ever D44 light bar
D44 side exit exhaust and finisher
Custom Southdown steering guard
4 PIAA spotlights

Anyone that wants 5 18" land rover mondial wheels let me know. They got 4 255/55/18 general at2 and one Pirelli scorpion on. The at2 ate truly awesome tyres, they got a speed rating of 130 mph (which we’ve hit in the disco because he’s running about 210hp) and there really grippy off the road! I don’t think he wants much for them so give me a shout if you’re interested.

He missed a few mods off. 210bhp is conservative!!!
Hybrid turbo, currently 22psi boost but up to 30psi. Egr valve has gone.
Lag is now a huge problem so I’m going to try a dump valve. I’ll let you know if it does any good or is just a waste of time and money.
Other stuff includes:-
Bi xenon headlight conversion and xenon spots, and lots of stickers!
There is more but who really wants to know?
 :)
Disco TD5 ES.
Two inch lift. Air spring spacers’ rear and scrap iron racing spring’s front.
OME +2inch dampers
ARB front winch bumper (also known as the plough!!!)
Southdown steering guard
QT heavy duty track rod and drag link. OME steering damper.
QT front and rear diff guards
Southdown tank guard with demountable towing system and recovery points.
Devon 4x4 D44 side exit exhaust and D44 HD rear bumper
Partial camel cut
Ditched the 18 inch AT2's for 265/75 16 BFG MT
D44 light bar with 4x piaa spots
Bi xenon headlight conversion and xenon spots mounted on ARB
Engine work giving around 210bhp, if I can't get over it, I push through!

clarke welders are crap!
still to do; rear wings and bumper

landrovers are not squere so when i mesured it up and marked out...it wouldnt fit! [!Expletive Deleted!]!

minor trimming and its done(sorry no pics of how much trimming)

not fully welded as of yet, just put a few runs in to set up the welder and to hold it all together

nearley there :D

if anyones wondering im not using the original disco lights im getting a set of defender lights and making up a rear pannel for that. should look good.

been welding today.....

also cut the roof liner a little. im reley not bothered about the asthetics of the interior. its going to get mucked up anyways!

some people may have guessed that it will warp....and they were right! it occoured to me just as i stopped welding! [!Expletive Deleted!]! so i put this bar(should have done it before welding) in an attempt to straighten it out and it worked a little untill.....

In theory, you shouldn't need uprated shafts with them tyres for general driving and playing. Thousands of Defenders, long and short, run 'em (Andy Sargent now recommends them over 235x85 - which is cool unless you've a really short girlfriend!). The reason why you don't generally see them on Disco's is the amount of bodywork they'll remove!

What will zonk the shafts is spinning a wheel up whilst it's in the air then dropping onto a traction surface - the reverse torque reaction will snap one shaft or t'other.

That aside - really good build, dude. Really good.  8)

Cheers
