My 97 GC is using a lot of water and now feels as if it is not firing all cylinders, could this be a head gasket and if so how much am I looking at getting fixed? :(

Would anyone rcommend me using this...

check the waterpump & rad carefully, first
the pump will leak after , it has been switched off

Just had the same prob with my 97 Cherokee 4.0L, that was the water pump cost about £55 for a new one.

Well Ive just had a mechanic take a look at it and number 1 cylinder is blowing :( I got a quote for £400 + VAT, does this sound reasonable?

would that be book time there is a fair bit to do and you would want the head cheked out for warping cast iron or not cant comrnt on price but one day for a proper job i am not so sure having worked in dealer workshops i know book times are optamistic to say the least
