!0' off set wheels ???
« on: May 09, 2007, 14:08:44 »
Hi All,
I have 33''/12.5x15's on my truck & pretty sure the wheel's are 8' wide, but now want to put some wider wheels on ie:- 10' wide with an off set, What would I need to ask for ? & any clue as to where the best place is to get them ?, looking for modulers or gayspokes

Thanks in advance.

PS they are on a disco 1 with the bodywork cut away & will be fitting a set of arch's before the widder wheels go on
John.

To work out your current wheels offset/inset you need a flat floor 2 straight edges and a tape measure or rule.

Put the wheel and tyre face down on the floor. You need a long straight egde that will goo right across the tyre and a shorter one that will sit across just the wheel. Measure the following.

A - Complete width of the tyre from the long straight edge to the floor.

B - Distance of the upper most wheel edge to the floor

C - distance from the upper most wheel edge to the mounting face.

The formula is then    =     (2B-A)/2 - C

A negative value is an inset a positive value is "outset".

To explain a little.

(2B-A) = the total width of the wheel including the rim etc. Not the acual stated width of the wheel.

C is measured from rim to mounting face so removes the rim proportion from the (2B-A)
