I keep losing my clutch (yes I know it is in the gearbox, I get no clutch we bleed it and there was no air but it worked it went again on Sunday. we bleed it gain and no good it is not leaking fluid anywhere, this time I put the transfer box in low and it worked put it back into high and it has been ok. Anyone got any ideas what it may be please.

If there is defintely no fluid leaking out of the bellhousing, it could be a faulty master cylinder.

It is possible for fluid to get pushed past the outer seals in the master cylinder and not leak out, leaving you with no clutch action. It's an oddity but it's possible.

Failing that, you might have a problem with the release mechanism where the slave cylinder connects to the release fork, or where the fork pivots (this is a known weak-point)

The only chance you've got of testing this is to take the slave cylinder out and see what the release fork feels like.

thanks for that Tim, i have had a new clutch and clutch arm fitted 6 months ago. I have no fluid leaking from the bell housing and none from the master cylinder. when i bleed the clutch the pedal stays down it does not return you have to lift it.

hmmm..

If the clutch isn't returning, then either there is something wrong with the clutch arm (that would be my guess) or there is something dodgy with the master cylinder (less-likely)

Doesn't sound promising :-(

Sorry to hear you are still having clutch problems, mine turned out to be the clutch damper. Shardlow LR's had the engine out twice and the g,box three times before I sussed it.

Check the back of the clutch pedal arm and under the rubber pedal cover.. for some strange reason I've had a clutch leak and couldn't work out where the fluid was going.

Turns out is was running down the pedal and into the rubber pedal cover.

Fitted a new master cylinder and clutch is working again, i still could find no leak and found no evidence of a leak anywhere but all seems to be ok now

well i spoke to soon despite a new master cylinder and slave cylinder it has stopped working again.

it is now fixed i took it back to the garage that done it and after taking the box out it seems a spring on the clutch plate had snapped in two. So I am happy again.

Yes Chris the warranty problem was overcome I am glad to say and a frew of use are coming on Sunday to get dirty. :lol: :lol: :roll:
