Lightweight

Thinking of getting this S111 lightweight. I've had a look and drive and it is very clean and seems to be in great nick for a 1980 model. Played with both high and low boxes and they seem fine. Steering tends to a bit be heavy and wanders slightly but then I'm used to power steering on my 110.

It has parabolic springs and Old Man Emu shocks, some fancy electronic ingnition, 24 volts, custom roll cage, Kenlow fan and a host of other goodies of which I can't remember right now.

I welcome all the advice I can get from you experts as my wife thinks it's a heap but I can still have it if I want it. The chap want's £3,500 for it which I thought a bit steep even given the extra's. I've seen a few V8's advertised for a grand less but not sure the condition of them.

There are a few good images I've taken but they are full resolution so are quite large for dial-ups.

Nice motor there, looks like a dutch canvas on there, is it plastic rather than ordinary canvas?

See the rust is starting to pick at the front bulkhead, 24volt ffr (fitted for radio), no radio tray or battery compartment in the back? I presume a 2 1/4 petrol under the lid.

It is a bit pricey, but sometimes they can go for silly money

Depends on what you want to do with it, if you don't mind a bit of work, you can pick them up cheaper.

It is a Dutch canvas, is a 2.25 petrol and I've decided not to have it now but thanks for the reply anyway.

I'm going to spend the money on my 110 and perhaps get an old cheep series to do up and play with.

Had a roof tent fitted today so can't wait till bedtime

Thanks again.

Dont blame you there sounds good.
Its a lot of money to throw around in the muck, especially when you have to fix it. A cheap s3 will do the job, as long as you dont have to travel too far to play

Good luck

If you change your mind about a Lightweight, my mate Ollie will be selling his soon for much less than the £3500 the other guy was asking.

Thank you very much. Decided against getting another LR for now. I'm going to tart my existing one up as mach as possible instead.

I just had one of these fitted http://www.eeziawn.com/s2roof.html and have a snorkel on order for Friday... Might spend quite a few Bob at the LRO show as well :)

If anyone is thinking of getting a roof tent then do so, it's the best laugh my wife and I have had in ages and the best accessory I've bought since my Garmin Street Pilot 111 Sat Nav unit.

To quote my Wife when asking what to do if she wanted the toilet in the night:

"It's OK for you" she said, "Dangle it over the edge and away you go, imagine me up this high with my arse stuck out the door way"

Needless to say, I just could NOT get that image out of my mind for the rest of the night
