Freelander Expert Needed!!!
« on: August 02, 2004, 11:47:09 »
Hi All

A friend of mine needs some diagnosis done on his 1998 freelander 2.0D. Is there anyone around Derby that would be a good place to go - NOT Main Dealer!!!

It sounds like there are drivetrain problems - possible noisy diff / transmission and also suspension.

Not necessarily looking for someone to fix it at the moment - a "learned" ear would be a fantastic start!

Cheers

Ben

Try also asking at the Freelander Club website www.freelanderclub.co.uk where there is a link to join the forum.
There are members with a lot of technical experience.
Hope this helps

Theres a place in Derby that may be able to help, on the A52 through the city centre, going out towards Ashbourne its on the left as you go up towards the roundabout for markeaton park, not used them myself but have heard good things.

I would say with my experience that the bearings on the viscous clutch on the rear prop are knackered, have had it loads of times, not very expensive but bloody noisy. Anymore questions feel free to mail me.
