Overdrive and oil.
« on: February 11, 2006, 09:50:15 »
Hi All!!

What oil do I use in a (think Fairey) overdrive???? And where do I fill it?

Tis a bit noisy when engaged, but I guess it's normal due to the age.

Suggestions please????

It takes EP90 same as everything else on a SIII except the engine, 0.4Litre (0.75pint).  Make sure you screw the dipstick (which is attached to the filler plug on top) all the way in to check the level, to avoid overfilling.  Hope this helps.  Paul

Ok, There is a rectangular cover bolted on top, and to the LHS (IIRC) there is a large bolt, think it was brass in colour. This is the dipstick is it?

As for overfilling, the last owner said it leaks a little after being used....

yep the brass plug which is on the passenger side (in a RHD anyway) it should have a little indent in it to show where the oil should be up to.
