gearbox fault
« on: October 25, 2005, 23:22:42 »
hi
wonder if anyone can shed amy light on this, before i get under the car on the weekend.
I have a p38 2001 range rover diesel, and tonight i had the 2nd incident of the last 2months.I start the vehicle and the engine revs way too high(no throttle jamming underneath the mats)without the rev counter moving. So i switch off and re-start-alls back to normal, but dash says gearbox fault on it.This is the 2nd time in 2 months its happened, and when you have finished your journey and go to return,it doesnt happen again.
The only thing i think i noticed today,or i might of been a bit paranoid,is im sure it was pulling away sharpley and felt like the brakes were on ,kind of thing.
Now the onlt really weird thing is that previous to these two events is that on each account the day previous ive had to drive through really deep water from flash flooding and rains on the road and have had a load of water splash up under the vehicle while driving through the flooded roads.
Hope this doesnt sound to muddles.
Regards
Gene
