Dashboard swap

Hi, just asking on behalf of a mate so any advice appreciated.
My mate is breaking his 300tdi due to engine failure so wants to swap various parts to the 200tdi he has.

I have not yet had time to investgate the haynes manual for him so wondered if anyone knows .....
firstly ... how much grief is it swapping a complete 300 dashboard into a 200 ? 

He was concerned about the differnt location for the heater, stereo, horn etc or if the cables at the back will be long enough to connect items in the new positions.

Secondly ...  he has changed the entire interior over but says the front seats don't look like they will fit as the seat boxes/runners are bigger on the 300 seats.

The 300 was a 96 model and after comparing to my 94 model i can see the difference he was talking about as mine is the same as his 200. He said the mountings wouldn't line up so has fitted the old fronts back in for now ! 
I was sure they must go in by either changing the bases or drilling the floor to suit, so if anyone knows how to sort this please let me know so i can pass on info.

i know some 300 front seat bases are welded to floor an have wider seats an im sure its the earlier 300s have bolted on seat bases or vice versa as mines a 96 es an i have the welded seat bases an the dash is a right pain the backside if u got plenty of time u can do it but be prepared for plenty of wiring an changine heater box for the 300 one

There is nothing wrong with his 200 dash but he said he preferred the look of his 300 so if it was an easy swap he would go for it but seeing he's not known for his patience, probably be best if he steers clear ... lol

What you said about the seats makes sense too. He said the 96 seats seemed wider and didn't look like they come out as easy as his 200's. By the time he has his waterproof covers on, who's gonna notice they are slighly differnt to the rest of the seats ?

It's not straightforeward.  The 200 has a rubber seal holding the screen in, the 300 has a bonded windscreen IIRC, the subframe under the dash is utterly different, the wiring and relay boxes/fuseboxes, the steering column and I think even the firewall is different.

Thanks ... The previous reply was enough to question the idea but this one will definately knock it on the head 
I got the idea he asked me thinking i would offer to do it, but i don't have the time for nightmares on my own truck never mind someone elses
