Doing some work tomorrow with a '56 plate Navara at the off-road centre but I'm not too sure how the 4x4 setup works on them.

There is an electronic switch on the dash to select '4 Lo' but I'm not sure if this also locks the centre diff? Last time I was in one it felt as though it did as there was resistance when cornering and you sometimes had to reverse to disengage so it felt like a Land rover with a mechanical centre diff-lock but it would be handy to know 100% how it operates if anyone knows the answer.

Any advice appreciated

No centre diff,  normally rear wheel drive.

Flip the switch to get 4hi or 4low, this gives you 4x4.  Since no centre diff you must drive in 2wd on the road.
