engines seized on the disco, so i did a search for a second hand one via breakerlink or someone...... anyway, i got a call from a company called "recycling lives" saying they had a 200tdi with 524000 miles on it, 6 month guarantee, delivered, for £300! sounds too good to be true, so anyone used em?

If it's too good to be true...

Saying that £300 for an engine is run of the mill, so probably genuine.

That mileage is crazy!

I was gutted I missed this one. Not cheap, but not bad for 45,000 miles on a recon unit.

you could always offer him 200 quid and then have it overhauled so its virtually a new engine. but even with a guarantee thats far too overpriced. speak to Solihull-Mick. he might show you the wear and tear of 500,000+ miles, bit of piston slap etc lol

Your right jay, just replaced my 300 tdi in bessie after 500.000 miles, still ran just had so much piston slap, got a brand new block off e-bay for 56 quid, swapped all the parts over new gaskets and pistons, running like a new penny, cant belive how much power id lost, she flys again

Not really, about right for any common 2nd hand engine.
